Drhoz, your muses may need you:

" PLUS: If anyone knows any marine biologists who would like to be in a music video extolling the virtues of science, we’re still collecting footage of scientists doing work or waving to the camera for our video to “A Marine Biologist”. I’m also working on several comic book projects, including the World Wildlife Federation of Justice, which is about superheroes in a world of anthropomorphic animals, and also a hilarious spoof of the Superfriends & Gleek with Mark Shainblum, who created the Quebec superheroine Fleur-de-Lys, who you may have seen on a Canadian postage stamp not too long ago"

12/09/09                               --have been living on the 'out-and-out' from (Mostly) 'Killable' housemates for a while now!

The Wretch and I were in Newtown (Bless'ed Newtown, my dear, long-beloved friend! Forgive my absence...ahem!) lately, at the establishment I e'er obduriously appoint as 'The Leper's Armpit'. A callous cognomination, I know, but bestowed with the greatest of infect affection!

Newtown was "nice" as some might proffer, or rather:   lovely   that night, almost Bladerunner.

Those sirens roaring up and down the street...ambulances mostly...

Ably assisted by the ambient* music! :7

*(discreetly! They get it! We're not here to hear their 'damn tunes'!)

Some sort of pensive, whimsical saxophonic melody--at times. My collegue noted, mischeviously, that: 'It always seems to come on just after the sirens have faded out...reassure everybody that "Everything's ok now--or here! Nothing to see here!"'

Not quite as canny as 'Carry On Consuming'...but the thought is there, in the design!

If anyone's wondering why I'm not even mentioning the food, s'cause it's all good!
Veggie (s)platter for 2,
Entrees of Muscularity and Crepe-that-goes-'kvack' (the sound, not the bheer).

Coulda been more range on dessert, but hey. Healthytowns-ville.
Cocoa tart was enjoyable, esp with its xylol;)! xylitol-sweet icecream. Yay Food Sci! ^.^
Creme ?Brulee was silkylovely and butter/clotted/anglaise cream-sweet--Boy is finally going to consider Advanced Custard-fu, rather than his usual leatherish 'wobblers'!
(ok. They're not leathery...just...Intensively Cooked. Must be the flour!)

For the GoogleStalkers:

Tour up King St from USYD to find the restaurant, but watch the sidestreets:
<3ful street art, circa 08 in Stephen St (Figure aligned nicely to door, too! XD )

[Continue up King St, Same Side as 'Stephen's Artwork' and the 'Armpit'] Curious Manga stylings thereon a block or two further (Sly)Foxwards (away from the MadCity/Uni) [Furries! Check out their sign! ::Holds its gaze, levelly::]

This mostly applies to Newtown itself, but...
...Can you tell I'm deprived?

If anyone knows of more gStalkable (Or walkable!) Street Art, lemmie know. Or if they remember the name of That Town in the US who were doing fun/ny stuff as 'Street Theatre' (all down one particular street! ::glee!s:: for/while the GoogleVan 'Didst but see them passing by...')

If I happen to recall it, I'll post it. Pwomise.

So, munchkyn here gets sent on a Quest to the Local Servo. It's just up the road. Won't take long...

Anyone know of a small house or granny flat (1-2 bedrooms) with access to a yard, in the Sydney area?

Doesn't have to be the city itself, near decent public transport is fine.

Yard can be 'a real fixer-upper', just as long as the house is weatherproof. The full-time employed couple are avid gardeners, you see. Growing herbs and veg is essential.

Long-term rental is preferred.

If near the ocean, the property could be the same to 3 bedrooms. They have a surfer friend. At least they're a quiet bunch!

More editing as data is available.

Oh, and take a whip-around of your jewelery/modelmaker/people-who-deal-with-fiddly-little-things friends: Clear plastic not-for-food boxes for sale! Inordinately reasonable prices.

I'm just looking for data on the number of interested parties. I know of at least two already.

Pictures (of the plastic boxen) will be flourished when they're all collated. There's an almighty pile of conveniently-sized cases!

I wants me some o' /that/!!
Oh, you're still here!?

Fine then, I'll get down with to it:

Sex Life of the Hoverfly (If That's The Yellow-and-Black Striped Non-Bee One)

Paired, (compound) 'Eyes Forward', both, the larger atop the smaller, 'tupping', if you will, 'ventral to dorsal'--

Oh. Right. Not That That's An Invitation *Yeaah*, must remember to cite
disclaimery-stuff like that 'with friends like mine'..

Ahem.

--so, going on my limited entomological knowledge, 'the female is larger than the male' [hey, it works for spiders, right? (And scorpions? The *other* 'arachnid'? ) Not to mention preying mantids...and phasmids. Though the last two, they're not arachnids. I think. Strongly. I would be suprised if they were!]

That would mean...would mean that 'It with It's wings pinned atop' was actually a MALE!

Typical male deadweight.

I pointed the occurrance out to the naturally Amused Pet Boy, while I was deadheading his mother's gardenia ex-blossoms (with my conveniently long thumbnails) of course he thought it was a splendid 'Order of the World'!

Typical male deadweight!

I hope to hear some suitably scurrilous comments upon the subject from him in the future.

I ain't growin' wings f'r him, Nosiron! At least, not until he maybe puts out about growin' scales, eh? ;D

So...anyone gonna call it? Were they hoverflies or no? An' ne'er mind 'first', 'Who's on top'?

(FYI: Ooonly as regards hoverflies, folks! Though I *do* like the way you think! ;D )

Why Buses Are Better Than Trains:

Tuesday: Hop aboard a nearest-to-going my way bus, running late for fencing... Despite the ample warning, the driver misses my stop, and continues blithely on, in 'Depot Mode'. I cautiously enquire, only to be apologised to and reassured that the (splendidly empty) bus would be continuing *via my end-point destination, fencing* just as soon as Driver had stopped for dinner--about 5 minutes at a local fry-joint.

Splendid kindly, but I was already close enough to walk!

What Train-driver'd know to offer /that/ level of door-to-door service!? 'Hah', to thee, Pet Boy!

Next night, different bus route... a jovial Loquacious Fellow of Old was telling me all about 'Kabbages and Cings' such as 'The Futurist Ideas of Mr Lang' and 'Why-There-Are-Covered-Over-Tram-Tracks in this Non-Melbourne city', and other things like that which I didn't know. Poor fellow was getting odd looks from passers-by when he tried to engage them in polite conversation at the bus stop. Hee. Politeness is something I do. I understood his (apparent) motives. So we chatted. Or at least, he pontificated, I listened attentively and commented where appropriate. Ach, what an entertaining journey that was!

Soo.. (no autospell-chequer as I is tiredz)

Today was work's 'Inaugural Team-Building Day'..which was kinda nice, as it was my first non-school 'team-building day' too.

Also rather redundant as we are a small company (less than 250 people) so less risk of fear and distrust. Apparently, everyone knows 'about' 250 people. Well enough. (Thanks DrK!)

Naturally, I was sicker this morning (and today) than you last read last night--wandered up while most of my Breakfast Houses were closed(!) (0800) to the local Coffee Temple wherein I entertained the Baristas by pleading my case "Sore throat, team-building day..I need all the drugs I can GET!" ..turns out they *did* have something in the 'personal use' section--but it was under the counter, not 'out the back'...and *yellow*. Hmm.

Was charged as being 'entirely medicinal'.

Mysterious Homebrew Infusion.

Like lemon and swedish bitters and vodka.

Entirely free. I <3 these guys!

A sip...then a mouthwash-and-gargle (don't worry, not while in coffee shop)...and my tongue was numb and my gums burning.

Yeah. That's the stuff.

15 minutes later, IT'S EATING THROUGH THE CONTAINER!
It must be potent ^.^

Most speeches were good---I was only dozing-awake through illness/dehydration, even then, only briefly--one speech could have used better explanation. Too much reliance on familiarity, did not use in-text (or indeed, any!) explanation of acronyms. Fun to think up logical/grammatically correct subversives for the undefineds. Or I would have, had I been well.

I got to wear 'manacles' (too easy to slip from!) for an escapology (pair TB)exercise which was an adaption of the old ' "linked"rope trick'.

...I still think there should have been mud, regardless of the conference centre setting. Not a proper 'TB' exercise without it!

How about you? What sorts of (good or ill) 'TB' excrescences (exercises!) have you undergone?

After was out drinkies with Nice People from Another Galaxy. Excellent Book Depository, Excellent Lifeforms.
